The terms used across the NibCSS documentation.

Term	Meaning
Attribute	the `nib="…"` string on an element
Rule	one `name=value` entry; becomes one CSS declaration and one class
Shorthand	a short property name built into the engine: `bgc` → `background-color`
Shortcut	a shorthand you define in `shortcuts`
Modifier	a prefix ending in `:` — breakpoint, `dark` or pseudo
Breakpoint	a named width range, used as a modifier (`md:`)
Token	a named value in `tokens`, referenced as `$group.key`
Recipe / component	a named group of rules in `components`, used by name without `=`
Preflight	the base reset, in `@layer nib-preflight`
Engine	`@nibcss/core` — turns attributes into classes and CSS
Runtime	`@nibcss/runtime` — the engine in the browser, watching the DOM
Extraction	generating CSS from source files at build time
Rewrite	replacing static attributes with class names at build time
Adapter	a framework package: `@nibcss/react`, `vue`, `angular`, `svelte`
Diagnostic	a reported problem, with id, message and suggestions
Overlay	the in-browser panel that lists diagnostics during development
GC	garbage collection of rules no element uses any more
